LOVE this pool! |
Let's pick up where we left off...at our new home away from home for the next week. We are staying a condo rental by owner within the resort, El Diria. I picked this place because the pool looked absolutely insane, and I am sucker for a nice pool. Who isn't? Also, the beach was only a couple of minutes walk from our doorstep and we could roam freely in this town without a car. When traveling internationally with Caleb for the first time, I really wanted to keep it as easy and as stress free as possible. So far, everything is exactly as promised! But first thing’s first, we had to get into that pool! We quickly got into our swimsuits and went straight for it. This pool is HUGE. It has all these curves and little areas surrounded by gorgeous vegetation so it feels really private to everyone in it. Oh, and there’s a swim up bar. Swim up bar for the win! Brandon and I got a couple of well deserved cocktails and swam around the pool. Caleb was nothing but smiles which meant mommy and daddy were nothing but smiles!
We had delicious sangria and fresh fish and Caleb enjoyed his first saxophone concert. I ordered Caleb a milk and the waiter brought him a huge glass of bubbling milk (this comes in to play later). Little guy wasn't interested in sea bass but he was just happily chugging milk enjoying the music so I didn't force him to eat anything and just let him be. After dinner we walked around the streets a little exploring. Please note Caleb is now happily utilizing the stroller purchased specifically for this trip (thank God! see how I have mentioned it twice? I am still a little bitter about buying a new stroller but it was so worth it in the airport). I have a little sangria buzz going and I look at Brandon and say, "Can I admit something? I am still starving!" I guess after a long travel day, a girl can really work up an appetite! Brandon fortunately admitted he was still hungry too.
We came upon an open air market of different food vendors and got a bowl of fresh tuna with teriyaki sauce and rice that looked awesome! We decide to go home an get the little one to bed and enjoy our second dinner as well as the cup of sangria I am schlepping around. Wait, how to we get back? It's so dark. The roads here are narrow and there are pot holes and drop offs everywhere, so we are picking up and putting down this stroller all over the place. Up and down and up down, it's not ideal. But the sangria hasn't spilled and the tuna bowl is still ready for us! We finally make it back to familiar territory and make our way up the long flights of steps that lead from the pool to our condo. I am carrying Caleb and Brandon is carrying the stroller.
All of a sudden, I feel hot milk all over me. Caleb started puking up everything in his poor little body all over both of us. It was equal parts disgusting and scary. There is a little skinny, dirty cat that came to see what all of the fuss was about and to enjoy some milk. We got home as quick as we could and Caleb and I got right into the shower while Brandon did damage control clean up. We got wrapped up in towels and snuggled up on the bathroom floor just in time for the next wave of puking. Y'all, it was bad. I will take drunk adult puke over scared little boy milk puke any day.

Here's to crossing off our hopefully only drama on this trip on Day 1!
I feel the same way about milk no matter where I am in the world. A white liquid that should be made into cheese.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Oh my gosh, Bridget, you certainly have a gift for writing! Glad that Caleb is ok. Nothing scarier than a sick child very far from home. Hope you all have a fantastic time in paradise. Looking forward to reading about more adventures.
